ABOUT RACE

Malshej Ghat Monsoon Half Marathon 2024 – Edition 6 (held in Malshej Ghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range in the Thane-Pune district of Maharashtra, India.) 

It is the Sixth time in the place of Malshej Ghat. It is not just a Running event but also it is our endurance to spread Social message about Plant Trees.

Malshej Ghat Monsoon Half Marathon route consist of most scenic locations alongside the beautiful Pimpalgaon Joga Dam and Harishchandragad.

The route promises to be full of lush Greenery, Natural Beauty region, Fog, Drizzling Rain, Rivers, Hills in the view, Water streams and Water Falls. The excitement of Running over the Ghat +  Village Track will definitely bring an enjoyable experience. On one side you will pass green fields, farms and on the other side you will have the Pimpalgaon Joga Dam water reservoir area. Small villages on route will add beauty in your run.

WHY RUNNING IN MALSHEJ?

THE LOCATION The landscape in this place in Maharashtra, is a surreal combination of lush greenery, gushing waterfalls and flourishing wildlife. The meandering routes can be found shrouded under a thick blanket of fog while the beautiful meadows of this tourist destination welcome you with warmth. You can plan a trip to this incredible tourist site and spend a relaxing time in the lap of nature.

BIRD WATCHING You can enjoy birdwatching alongside route as a wide range of migratory birds reach the region during the monsoon season each year. You can witness an extensive variety of birds from Pimpalgaon Joga Dam.

WATERFALLS Thanks to the rains, Malshej Ghat is adorned with a number of waterfalls which are a sight to behold. Against the backdrop of rugged mountains, these waterfalls appear simply magical.

THE MESMERIZING DRIVE The drive to Malshej ghat is extremely scenic making it an ideal spot for a monsoon road trip. And there is nothing better than a monsoon road trip, is there?

ADVENTURE TREKKING When visiting the MALSHEJ, you can enjoy exhilarating hikes, explore the flora and fauna of the region as well as gaze in awe at the thundering waterfalls. Due to the many lakes and hills that can be found there, this place has become a sought-after tourist site among nature lovers. This tourist destination is a great place for families as well who would like to unwind in the lap of nature.

RACE FORMAT

  • Participants can choose any category as per their choice.
  • Runners can register to participate in different categories –  21 KM, 10 KM and 5 KM.
  • Participants need to cover the total distance of their chosen category in respective cut off category.

RACE CATEGORIES

The runners kit and bib distribution will be carried out on the 6th of July, which is one day before the race. The precise details are as follows.

*Note: Runners Kits and bibs will be handed over to runners individually post verification of a valid Photo Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, ID card of a government organization or a Reputed Private Institution).

PARKING:

There is a sufficient parking availability in the vicinity of the venue. Possible parking areas are: Parking is available on a first come, first serve basis.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

The Start/Finish point is approx.13 KMs away from Ajara Bus Stand, and. Tourist Vehicle or an Auto Rickshaw are available from bus stop to the Start / Finish point.

BAGGAGE COUNTERS:

All marathon runners can store their luggage/bags at the designated Baggage Counters. You will be given a baggage tag that needs to be attached to your bag. You must retain the other half of the tag for submission to our volunteers post your run for bag retrieval. DO NOT leave any valuables in the bag while handing it over to the volunteers at the baggage counter. The Event Organizer is not responsible for any loss, theft, or misplacement of your bag. Please take note of some of the items (non-exhaustive) not recommended leaving inside your bag: Jewellery Camera Mobile Phone Cash Original photo id proofs Credit / Debit card Baggage counters will be open for collection at the finish area.

 

The baggage counter will be active till 30 mins prior to the race time near the Start / Finish area.

You may then collect your bags at the baggage counter post completion of your run.

FACILITIES AT EVENT VENUE:

The following facilities will be provided at the Event Venue.

  • Baggage storage
  • Toilets
  • Refreshment stations
  • Medal distribution counters (post finish)

RACE DAY EMERGENCIES:

Medical aid will be made available in case of emergencies. Runners are advised to carry their own specific prescribed medicines. You must stop running the race immediately if instructed to do so by a member of the medical crew – this is in the interest of your health and safety. For any assistance or to report a medical or any other emergency, you may observe on race day, reach out to the event volunteer closest to you.

By Train – There is no train station in the town of Malshej. Kalyan Railway station is the nearest railway station to Malshej and is about 85 km away.

By Bus – In addition to state transport buses, you can also find private buses bringing passengers to Malshej on a regular basis. Mumbai (Kalyan) and Pune.

By Air – Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai is located closest to this tourist destination. One can take flights to Mumbai, which is well-connected to all of the major cities in India. The Pune International Airport is another option for travelers.

  1. Only those above 18 years & above on the race day are allowed to compete.
  2. Runners who are able to complete Half Marathon under 3 hours will be allowed to compete in 21 Km race.
  3. Every runner should check with their family doctor before registering for the race.
  4. Carrying headlights for the run is compulsory and you can participate in the run only if you run with the headlights. You will not be allowed to run without headlights.
    1. You understand the risks involved and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance running race.
    2. 21 kms race and 10 Kms should complete in 3.5 hours and 2.5 hours.
    1. You have gone through necessary training to compete in the race. Race will begin in the dark of early morning and will be operational until 10 hours from the start time.
    2. You will be responsible for yourself and should have the ability to deal with any problems that may be encountered during the race.
    3. You are able to deal with, on your own without assistance, deteriorating weather conditions (low temperatures, strong winds, and rain) and other troubles expected on route.
    4. You are able to deal with extreme fatigue, internal organ and digestive problems, muscle pain, mild physical injuries and psychological problems on your own.
    5. By registering for the event, you confirm your acceptance that the organisers can send you communication from time to time regarding Malshej Ghat Monsoon Half Marathon as also information about any other initiatives of RunNiti.
    6. By entering the event venue and / or participating in the race, the attendees permit themselves to be photographed / recorded by electronic and print mediums for telecast / publication and other display usage by the organisers.
    7. By registering for the event, you have confirmed and given your consent that the information provided by you – name, address, email id, contact number, blood group, timing certificate etc. are correct and the same has been provided by you willingly.
      You fully understand that you are responsible for overcoming the above conditions 1 to 5 on your own and that it is not the responsibility of the race organisers.
    8. Participants are responsible for their own health and safety and are participating in the event at their own risk. The Event promoters/their employees/Event Sponsors/Event Partners/their associates will not be responsible or liable for any sort of bodily injury, illness or death sustained to or by you whatsoever and howsoever this is caused.

    You are fully aware that when participating in an outdoor activity such as this race, your safety depends on your own skills and abilities.

    Video/television footage, photos, articles, race results, etc. may be used and/or shown in newspapers, television, magazines, internet, pamphlets, etc. You understand and agree that these rights belong to the race organisers and title sponsor and may be used for these purposes by them or entities authorised by them.

    CHANGES TO THE ROUTE AND CANCELLATION OF THE RACE

    1. The organisers reserve the right, at any time and without prior notice, to make changes to the route and checkpoints/water station points or to the cut-off times.
    2. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the race may be postponed or delayed.

    IMAGE RIGHTS

    Each participant expressly foregoes his/her image rights for the photos taken for the duration of the race and undertakes not to take any action against the organisers and sponsors.

    FORCE MAJEURE

    In the event of poor weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organisers reserve the right to suspend the race or modify the race course at the discretion of the race organisers.

    PROTEST

    Complaints, especially regarding the podium finishers, must be made in writing with sufficient proof and should be submitted to the race organisers before the awards ceremony. Post-race feedback or complaints may be emailed to contact@runniti.in with sufficient proof. Any online or social media protest will not be entertained.

Participants must complete the race on foot within the stipulated time of 3.55 hours for 21.1 KM and 2.5 hours for 10 KM Run.

Participants may be disqualified or penalised at any time during the race for the following reasons:

  1. Taking shortcuts and/or running off the trails.
  2. Not carrying the mandatory equipment.
  3. Throwing garbage onto the course (this applies to both the racers and their supporters).
  4. Receiving outside support at other than the stipulated aid stations.
  5. Running with people who are not officially registered in the race as racers.
  6. Cheating (e.g. using other means of transportation, using substitute runners, and other unlawful actions).
  7. Not abiding by the instructions given by official race staff including doctors, nurses, and emergency staff.
  8. Doping and the use of prohibited drugs.
  9. Following activities are not allowed:
    1. Use of Trekking poles
    2. Carrying other runners’ stuff or gear while the race is in progress
    3. Outside support (except at designated areas)
    4. Using personal support vehicle

Running without bib. The bib should always be worn, and the number should be always visible on the CHEST during the race.

  1. Runners must understand the unique nature and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance road race. They must have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such a race.
  2. Runners should be self-reliant and responsible for their own safety by having the ability and skills to self-diagnose and deal with any problems that may be encountered during a race of this nature.
  3. Runners must be able to take care of themselves without any external assistance, under deteriorating weather conditions (e.g. rain, strong winds, hot, dry and humid weather) and other unforeseen circumstances that may arise while the race is in progress.
  4. Runners must be able to deal with extreme fatigue, digestive problems, muscle pain, mild physical injuries and other discomforts during the race.
  5. Runners who accept assistance and support from any person who is not an official race organiser may be disqualified.
  6. Runners should run on the official race course. In case a runner gets lost, he/she should go back to the proper course. In no case shall the distance outside the race course be considered valid.
  7. In the event of a runner assisting another runner who is in need of emergency aid, he/she must inform the nearest aid station or race organisers for medical assistance.
  8. Runners are responsible to ensure they pass all time checkpoints. A list will be announced during the briefing and signages will be in place. Failure to do so would mean time penalty and/or disqualification.
  9. Participants are responsible for their own health and safety and are participating in the event at their own risk. The Event promoters/their employees/Event Sponsors/Event Partners/their associates will not be responsible or liable for any sort of bodily injury, illness or death sustained to or by you whatsoever and howsoever this is caused.
  1. Runners who decide to pull out or discontinue voluntarily must proceed to the nearest checkpoint.
  2. Runners who fail to notify the organizers immediately after pulling out, thereby setting in motion a search and rescue operation by the organizers’ rescue team will be liable to pay for the entire cost thereof.
